"Ecclesiastes 1:9" Oversize Tee

"Nothing new under the sun" first appears in the Old Testament in Ecclesiastes 1:9.

Thought to be written by King Soloman in his later years, Solomon says, "What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun." Here, he speaks of how there is nothing regarding humanity that hasn't already been said, done, felt, discovered, or questioned. Furthermore, earthly wisdom and folly (foolishness), while appearing different and leading to specifically different outcomes here on earth, are nothing in comparison to Godly wisdom; time will take both the wise on earth and the foolish.

As I reflected on this verse and later verses in the book, I realize that I coveted and idolized earthly wisdom in the past, before I was a Christian. I was always searching for answers to questions, but not looking to God for guidance. I wanted to know many things about everything— my sights were set on gaining knowledge, on somehow "knowing more" — I was trying to fill in gaps only Jesus could fill.

This shirt is a reminder that I will never know what hasn't already been known. I will never think a thought that hasn't already been thought. I will never take an action that hasn't already been taken.
